Delhi - Guwahati - Umiam LakeTransfer to the airport and flight to Guwahati. We recommend you to opt for a window seat on the left of the airplane for a spectacular view on the Himalayas if the weather is clear. Welcome at the airport and transfer to Umiam Lake. Night in Ri Kynjai.
Umiam lake - CherrapunjeeAfter breakfast, drive to Cherrapunjee, where the sign 'the rainiest place on planet Earth' greets you. The road to Cherrapunjee through the East Khasi Hills winds through dense pine and oak forests, full of ferns and orchids. En route are dramatic gorges and ravines, waterfalls and limestone caves. After whole day of sightseeing, stay at hotel.
CherrapunjeeBreakfast at the hotel. Today go for a trek (around 3000 steps) to the root bridge of Cherrapunjee with a local guide. You have the option of visiting the single decker bridge or unique double decker bridge. Picnic and swim in natural pools. Night in resort. Locals use the roots of Indian rubber trees to create natural bridges over rivers. These bridges are so strong that they can support up to 50 people. The 'Umshaing Double Decker Root Bridge' is one of a kind because it includes two decks one above the other.
Cherrapunjee - GuwahatiAfter breakfast, leave for Guwahati via Shillong. Night in hotel.
Guwahati - Kaziranga NPRoad to Kaziranga National Park. If early arrival, you can in the beautiful Diphlu River Lodge.
Kaziranga NPToday, wake up little early and get ready to explore the forest in the Elephant back. Your Naturalist Guide will take you to the Elephant riding point by jeeps. Here you will be moving through the tall grass while the morning mists slowly lift is an experience that one won't forget easily. The Elephant ride is best means for wildlife viewing as the wild animals are not afraid of the elephants and it is possible to observe them from the very close. You will return to the resort for breakfast. After breakfast you will go on a first Jeep safari to the national park for wildlife viewing in the central zone. Later return to the resort for taking some rest and spent the time till lunch. After lunch you will go on a second jeep safari of the day, this time you will visit the Western zone of the national park. One can also spent some time at the Donga view point, situated in western zone. Night in resort.
Kaziranga NP - JorhatAfter breakfast drive to Jorhat. You will be accommodated in a beautiful homestay in the heart of a tea plantation. In the afternoon, take a tour of the factory and indulge yourself in a tea tasting session !
Jorhat - Majuli - JorhatAfter, you will leave for Majuli (1 hours), which is the 2nd largest inhabited river island of the world and a hotbed of ages-old Assamese culture. En route cross the mighty Brahmaputra River in a scenic ferry ride. Spend the day visiting monasteries of the island where you will meet monks who live a peaceful life learning forms of Assamese xatriya arts, drama, music, dance and philosophy. Lunch will be in a village house where you will get to taste various ethnic Mishing dishes cooked by a very hospitable family. Return to bungalow by dusk for night. Evening will be at leisure.
Jorhat - KohimaYou leave the plain of Assam to reach the Naga Hills. On arrival at the camp, located at the foothills of the gigantic Japfu Mountain, soak in the serenity of the surroundings as you are accorded the traditional welcome of the tribes of Nagaland. You will then be accompanied to your superlative luxury tent, where the check-in formalities will be completed by our guest relations hostess. Spend the evening relaxing in the peaceful environs of the camp. Enjoy a drink by the campfire followed by a feast skillfully created by our chef, as you sit down to your first night's dinner in the lap of nature and luxury.
KohimaAfter a leisurely breakfast, drive to the Kisama Village for the spectacular Hornbill Festival. Night in the camp. Revel in this marvelous riot of colour as you watch all 16 tribes of Nagaland show off the rich fare of diverse cultures and traditional arts that is Nagaland. You can witness the attire, folk music and dance forms, headgear, cuisines, paintings, handicrafts, and other exhibits of the varied tribes and sub-tribes of the state. The highlight of the festival is not only the music and dance, whether traditional or contemporary; but also the display of exquisite handicraft and handloom, which is bound to leave you enchanted. Adding to the excitement is a motor rally, traditional sports like wrestling and archery, a literary fest, and fun events like climbing a greased bamboo pole or chilli eating contests.
Kohima - Khonoma - KohimaAfter breakfast we drive to the village of Khonoma, one of the prettiest villages in all of Nagaland. This village which has a very rich culture and history is the stronghold of the Angami tribe. In the Angami dialect the village is pronounced as ‘Khwunomia’ which is a conjunction of the words ‘Khwuno’ and ‘Mia’. Khwuno is the name of a small plant found around the village while Mia translates to dwellers. Walk around the village understanding the cultural significance of certain structures and the history behind them. The village also has some national award winning basket weavers whom you can visit and interact with. Traditional lunch in the village. Afterwards you can head to KNCTS to enjoy a short walk in the lap of nature. Then return back to Kohima for the night. The thick forest, teaming with birds for which Khonoma has a unique position in Nagaland. It holds the distinction of being the only village in Nagaland where logging and hunting is banned. In 1998 the villagers demarcated 70 sq. Kms of the community forest as a reserved forest christening it the Khonoma Nature Conservation and Tragopan Sanctuary (KNCTS).
Kohima - Dimapur - DelhiAfter breakfast, transfer to Dimapur airport for the flight to Delhi via Calcutta. Welcome at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Night in Radisson Blu.
