Mizoram is highly underrated destination. Deep valleys, exotic culture, salubrious climate and rare natural flora and fauna are the reasons why Mizoram is worth exploring.
First, head to Phawngpui or the Blue Mountain, the state’s highest peak overlooking the very picturesque Chhimtuipui River. It is perched atop 2160 m above the sea level and is surrounded by breathtaking cliffs and beautiful flower gardens. You will get splendid views of scarlet skies at dawn and dusk and will be able to spot exotic Himalayan animals here.
Proceed to Hmuifang, one of much talked about mountains in Mizoram. It is located at 50 Km away from state capital Aizawl. With an elevation of 1620 m above sea level, the mountain is still covered with virgin forest reserved. The mountain has beautiful cliffs and offers great views of the surrounding hills. The patches of grassy glades on the peak are also ideal for picnics and outdoor camping. From here, you may visit the five Mizo villages situated in the hill side – Hmuifang, Sumsuih, Lamchhip, Chamring and Sialsuk village to experience the rural life of the Mizos. Again to the nature lovers, the forests abound with fascinating varieties of flora and fauna.
The Mizos celebrate their harvest time festivals in the months of March, September and November. If you go here during this time, you will get a rare insight into exotic lifestyle and culture of Mizos.
