This beautiful trip will take you to the heartland of Nagaland which holds in its fold some of the most amazing sights and mesmerising experiences.

Dzukou Valley is known as one of the most charming valleys of Nagaland. It is considered to be the best area for purpose of trekking. Dzukou Valley and Japfu Peak trek takes you to a wonderful trekking spot which is easy to moderate in level. Situated at an altitude of 2140 m behind the Japfu Ranges, this place isalso known as “The Valley of Flower” of North East. The serpentine stream shaped like the curves of Venus flows through Dzukou becomes frozen during winter. Japfu peak (3000m) is the highest peak in Kohima district.

At 3840 m, Saramati Peak is highest in Nagaland and it remains snow covered during winter. The mountain range is covered with rich, natural and diverse forests, visible at various altitudes, ranging from sub-tropical ever green and semi ever green to temperate broad leaved and Alpine vegetation. It also has good bio-diversity with natural flora and fauna and various kinds of orchids.

Day 1

Arrival in Dimapur - Khonoma

Welcome at the airport and drive to Khonoma. Night in hotel/homestay.

Day 2

Khonoma - Seikhakie

The day starts with an in depth exploration of Khonoma, the first Green Village of the country. While touring the entire place, you will check out the local women weaving fine shawls in different colours as well as designs. Spear making art and cane basket craft can also be seen as an activity among the men of the village. You might meet National Winners in cane basket making here at the village itself. A visit to Morung is also possible. It is supposed to be a ceremonial gate according to the locals from where the history and culture of the place is passed on to the coming generations. There are some forts to cover as well. This is followed by a picnic lunch and then a short trek to Seikhakie base camp. Later in the evening enjoy a camp-fire at the camp.

Day 3

Seikhakie - Dzukou

Kick-start the third day of the trip with some action packed trekking. Post breakfast, you will start trekking to Dzukou. Lunch will be served on reaching Dzukou valley after which, you have the evening at leisure to explore the stunning valley; enjoy the beauty of its lush green landscape and meandering streams. Night in tent.

Day 4

Dzukou Valley

Full day exploration of the Valley. Enjoy picnic lunch in the far end of valley. Return to Trekkers Hut for overnight stay.

Day 5

Dzukou - Dzuleke

After breakfast, trek to Dzulekei Village with packed lunch. Once there, you will be given a traditional welcome at a Morung by the locals. Explore the village and spend some leisurely time there. Night in homestay.

Day 6

Dzuleke - Benreu

After breakfast, you will be driven to the Benreu Village where you can visit the mystical Dzulekecie River and visit some locals at the Tepuki River. You can also partake in the traditional fishing and enjoy a quiet little picnic lunch with your own catch by the river side. You can spend some leisurely time here and walk around and explore the village to understand more about the tradition and culture of the locals. Enjoy a sip of the local wine. Night in cottage.

Day 7

Benreu - Mt Pauna - Benreu

Trek to Mt Pauna, third highest mountain in Nagaland. This mountain is also known as a Nature Museum because of its abundant wildlife and medicinal plants. Here you will break for lunch and enjoy your at Mt Pauna while enjoying the scenic view. After this we trek back to the Benreu village where you will stay overnight after a day of sightseeing and exploration.

Day 8

Benreu - Kohima

Road to Kohima. On your way, stop at the Pelekei Village, where you will witness the traditional salt preparation method. A well deserved hot shower is waiting for you in Kohima. Night in hotel.

Day 9

Kohima - Kiphire

Long drive to Kiphire, dotted with scenic villages like Pungro, Salumi and Mimi. Amongst which, Mimi and Salumi are believed to be virgin lands. These villages house a number of caves and waterfalls. Night in Tourist Lodge.

Day 10

Kiphire - Pungro

Morning visit Kiphire village and different tribal houses around Kiphire. Later drive to Pungro. Pongru is the base for trekking to Saramati Peak. Night in tent.

Day 11

Pungro - Thanamir - Water Point

Drive to Salumi which is famous for its Natural Caves. It is also base for excursion to Fakim Wildlife Sanctuary. Enroute visit Sangtam Naga villages. Night in camp.

Day 12

Water Point - Mt Saramati - Water Point

Full day trek to Mt. Saramati peak (3840 m). The trek to peak is moderate with few difficult portions due to a degraded trail. Return to water point for night in camp.

Day 13

Water Point – Thanamir – Salumi – Pungro – Kiphire

Trek down to Thanamir. From here drive to Kiphire. It is the home town of the Sangtams, Yimchungers and Semas. Night in tourist Lodge.

Day 14

Kiphire - Tuensang

Drive to Tuensang, the land of Changs, Kaimungans, Sangtams, Sumis and Yimchungers. The area is known for handicrafts and handloom products. Night at tourist lodge.

Day 15

Tuensang - Mokokchung

In the morning, visit of Tuensang village. Then departure for Mokokchung. Arrive Mokokchung and drive to the beautiful modern village of Mopungchuket and check in at the small but beautiful lodge constructed and maintained by the village youth of Mopungchuket. Evening free at leisure. Night at hotel.

Day 16

Mokokchung - Jorhat

Drive to Jorhat. Enroute visit the oldest Tea Research and Training Institute. In the evening, enjoy a life quite different from the normal, a feeling of life like old British Tea Planters. Night in hotel.

Day 17

Departure from Jorhat

Drop to the airport. End of services.
