Solung Festival is one of the most popular festivals in Arunachal Pradesh that is celebrated by the Adis of on beginning of September every year. It is an agro-based festival, but it also reflects the socio-religious features of the people.

There are three main parts in the celebration of this festival, which includes Limir-Libom, the first part and the sacrificial day; Binnyat, the second part, the ritual offering to goddess of crops, Kine Nane; and Ekop (also called Taktor), the ritual made for protection against harms by evil spirits by appeasing to Gumin-Soyin, the household guardian, and Doying Bote, god of wisdom and human welfare.

Day 1

Arrival in Dibrugarh

Welcome at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Night in hotel.

Day 2

Dibrugarh - Pasighat

You leave the hotel at 6:30 AM for the Dibrugarh Ferry Terminal. A beautiful cruise across the braided flow of the Brahmaputra awaits us. Keep an eye out for freshwater dolphin during the winter months! After reaching the other side of the Brahmaputra, transfer to Arunachal Pradesh's border post. There you clear entry with your Restricted Area Permits and continue on to reach your hotel in Pasighat by early afternoon. The afternoon is free to explore Pasighat's traditional market. Night in basic hotel.

Day 3 & 4

Pasighat

Enjoy Solung Festival on the main festival ground. You can also explore the nearby Adi villages. Night in basic hotel. Ponung is a local Adi folk dance performed by ladies dressed in traditional attire. A shaman recites verses about folk stories, moral values, anecdotes of the past and future while the ladies repeat the chorus after him/her swaying to the rhythmic sound created by two cymbals attached to a ceremonial sword. There are many forms of this dance out of which ‘Solung Aabang’ is the most significant. This dance is performed during Solung festival where the Shaman (Miri in Adi) narrates the story of how the world came into being and the migration of the Adi tribe from the very beginning to its present location. Solung Aabang can go on the entire night as the Miri cannot stop mid-story and must finish what he/her started.

Day 5

Pasighat - Dibrugarh

Drive upto Oiramghat where we enter Assam to take the ferry across the braided flow of the Brahmaputra. Keep an eye out for freshwater dolphin during the winter months! After reaching the other side of the Brahmaputra, drive to Dibrugarh. Evening walk around town. Night in hotel.

Day 6

Departure from Dibrugarh

After breakfast, transfer to the airport. End of our services.
